If I've hurt anyone's sentiments, I sincerely apologise.” The controversy began when Ranveer recreated Shetty’s Daiva performance from the film’s climax and praised him directly from the stage. During his bit, he said, "I watched Kantara Chapter 1 in theatres, and Rishab, it was an outstanding performance, especially when the female ghost (Chamundi daiva) enters your body - that shot was amazing." While Rishabh Shetty was seen laughing in the moment, many later pointed out that calling daivas ghosts was inaccurate and disrespectful, as they are considered forest deities. Things escalated when additional footage surfaced showing Rishabh Shetty advising Ranveer not to mimic him, which sparked even more backlash. The moment has now opened a wider conversation about how public figures refer to culturally significant performances on major platforms. Ranveer’s apology continues to circulate online, drawing a mix of understanding and criticism.
